• Where to send your work? You can send your work to blacklesbianarchives@gmail.com. Subject line: ‘BLA Submission’ and include your name that you would like to appear in the publication, signed copy of a media release form, your short bio, any social media handles, and also your website or contact info (if applicable) . 

 

• Who can submit? We are seeking original submissions from Black Lesbian Women of the African Diaspora (Women Loving Women) 

 

• Upcoming Topics SUMMER Theme: Creating Our Own Film & Media 

  (Open Calls will be announced: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter)

 

 (You can submit work from past/current submissions but must be your original work)

• What can be submitted?

 

- Cover Art: Cover art submissions can be submitted in the form of artwork, photography or digital art based on the theme of the issue size: 8 1/2 x 11 (starting July 2022)

 

- Articles: Essays should be submitted as an attachment in PDF or other file format. Please include the title of your article at the beginning of the document. We accept articles of up to 2,500 words in length. Community interviews are welcome!

- Poetry: Poetry should be submitted as an attachment that can be opened or read in google docs. Please include the title of your poem at the top of the document. We accept up to 2 poems per submission. Send each submission separately. Poems should be able to fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 magazine page.

 

- Photography and Visual Art: Artwork must be in high quality JPEG or PNG digital format.

 

- Upcoming Event Submissions: You can submit upcoming events and group meetings going on in your city. 3-4 sentence blurb (please include a website or contact info to reach you or the organizer)

- Community Groups/Organizations: 3-4 sentence blurb (please include the name of group, location or address (ex: Dallas, Texas) a website or contact info to the organizer)

 

- Land Coalitions: 3-4 sentence blurb (please include the name of group, location or address (ex: Dallas, Texas) a website or contact info to reach the organizer)

- Book Recommendations: 3-4 sentence blurb (please include the name of the book, a website or contact info to reach the author, also a photo of the cover if applicable)

- Film Recommendations: 3-4 sentence blurb (please include the name of the film, a website or contact info to reach the filmmaker, also a photo of the film if applicable)

- $$$ Business Advertisements: All local business advertisements must be for your personal business only. You must submit your advertisement via email and have it approved before purchasing an ad. Click here to view more information!

 

  Types of Advertisement Pages

• Full page size: "8.5x11" (portrait) 

• Half page size: "8.5x5.5" (landscape, horizon)

• Quarter size: "4.25 x 5.5" (portrait)
